Readers digest version of our first few weeks as parents of a girl.

Is it February already? Our lives have been somewhat of a whirlwind the past month. On Saturday, January 2. We were blessed with the arrival of our little girl. Unlike her brothers, who were all born in the afternoon, Mayley decided to grace us with her presence at 2:04 a.m.

Sunday we were released from the hopital and brought her home to three very excited brothers.

By tuesday Mayleys bilirubin levels were a little high and she spent three days laying on this bilibed.

We thought it was hard to lay her on this bed all day and night. The only time we could hold her was to feed her.

But then on wednesday January 13th at 6:00 in the morning we took Mayley to the emergency room where she was diagnosed with RSV. She was admited to the hospital on the pediatric floor.

We spent two days there. Then they tested her oxygen levels and discovered that carbon dioxide was building up in her body and made the decision to move her to the NICU. We spent the afternoon there and part of the early evening, but she was getting worse so they decided to call life flight and have her transfered to Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake.

That night was extremely foggy and they couldn't send the helicopter so they transported her via ambulance.

After putting Mayley on a ventilator they loaded her on to the ambulance. At 2:30 a.m. we left Logan Regional hospital and followed the ambulance to Primary Childrens arriving around 4:30. Delirious, emothionally, physically and mentally exhausted we watched them wheel our baby in to the hospital and set her up in their pediatric intensive care unit.

On Sunday Janurary 17th they were able to take her off the ventilator and I was able to hold her again.

Later that afternoon they moved her to the pediatric floor where we remained until Thursday, when we were able to bring her home.

Fortuneatley, when this all started my Mom had come to visit. She was able to make arrangements and stay longer to help us out. Wades parents also helped us with getting our boys to all of their various activities and bring us dinner. Wades brother Greg was gracious enough to provide us with dinner, a bed and breakfast. And Marc, Wade's nephew helped us keep our sanity with his daily visits while we were at primary childrens.

We are so grateful to all of you that offered prayers in our behalf. They were truly felt. We are grateful to be home and that Mayley is a healthy, happy baby. We are enjoying the sweet spirit she adds to our home.

Deanna, I just wanted to let you know that once Aubri and Claire told us about poor baby Mayley being so sick and it being so serious, that our hearts ached for your family. You were in our thoughts and prayers and when we heard she was doing better and finally released to go home, we were so relieved and happy for you.
I'm glad all is well now and you are able to actually hold her... that had to be very hard and frustrating. :( She is such a doll and I'm excited I was finally able to see pics!! :) Thanks for posting!

I'm glad to hear that she's perking up and becoming that princess you know she'll be! YOU look way too skinny, by the way! Congrats and I'm sooooo glad things worked out for the good. You guys have been in my prayers. Love you!

This post made me cry: first, when I saw the picture of the ambulance because me heart literally broke, second, when I saw the picture of you holding her because I was so happy and grateful for you. Deanna, I'm so very sorry you had to go through this emotional roller-coaster and so very happy you have your beautiful, sweet, wonderfully healthy daughter home with all of you. You have all been in so many of our prayers the last few weeks. We are beyond happy for you and can't wait to meet our new niece and see the boys with their new sister.;)

Holy cow, what an emotional time you guys have had. I have never prayed more or thought about a niece as much as I have Mayley. She really is such a special little girl. Love how she's a total girl and starts testing you right away:) She is so beautiful and I am dying to hold her. We are so grateful for your example and strength through all of this. Mayley couldn't have come to better parents. And oh my gosh, you look GREAT!!!! I would have never guessed that you just had a baby! Maybe my working out IS helping you and not me:) Love you guys and post more pics soon...we LOVE them!!
